They began as pocket watches: the celebrated K-43, the very Pobeda watches awarded to Red Army soldiers and officers for distinguished service. Faithfully serving their owners, they helped bring Victory closer alongside their weapons.

Yet the pocket format proved impractical in the field and in combat.

The first wristwatches emerged simply: lugs were welded to the pocket-watch case and a strap was threaded through them.
